The IGDR is deeply engaged in conceiving innovative and multidisciplinary approaches towards a quantitative and dynamic understanding of life. Its research revolves around 3 main scientific themes involving several scientific questions from basic to translational research:

From molecule to cell : structure versus dynamics

Discover how the structure impacts the function of a molecule or a complex of several molecules, and how the plastic network of actors / proteins in dynamic interaction reflects the robustness of an organelle or a cell.

From cell to organism : an identity case

Understand how a single cell gives rise to a whole organism, formed by the interplay of hundreds of different cell types that interact with each other while adapting to external constraints.

From genes to cancer and genetic diseases

Find genetic predispositions and alterations of causality and understand their individual and cooperative impacts in the genesis and development of genetic diseases. How does a cell become cancerous? How can we detect it and how can we eliminate it?

Multidisciplinarity is among the scientific priorities of the Institute. The IGDR indeed encourages the development of several scientific fields such as translational research, structural biology, mechanotransduction, simulation, quantitative biology or microfluidics.
